The Achthoek choir was established in 1997 as a high-level amateur choir. Under conductor Jurjen Vis the choir thrives, with a repertoire stretching from 16th to the 20th century music. The choir gives public performances once or twice a year. Jurjen Vis is historian, musicologist and musician.
This summer's programme consists of 'Lieder' by Franz Schubert and Johannes Brahms. With Lennie Kerkhoff and Piet Hulsbos, piano. One of the chosen Schubert Lieder is 'An die Sonne':
