When he first got to the stage in New York, with dreads down to his waist, the Village Voice was impressed. The intimacy of his music shot him straight to the top of the critics gig list. Steve Waitt, American born, educated in Europe, travelled widely before ending up with guitar, piano and lovelorn vocals. Come 2008, you will look out for the dreadlocks in vain. Waitt's an established singer songwriter on the New York scene now, with a new record out, 'Blue Parade'. It will be his first solo performance in Amsterdam. 'The solo songs are dark, honest offerings, very reflective and lyrically heavy', wrote the Daily News, NYC.
