KLM and Richard Hutten
The Lloyd Hotel has linked up with KLM to offer you a Dutch Design Special. Last November Richard Hutten transformed the restaurant/bar of the Lloyd Hotel with an eye-catching bar and specially designed Lloyd Light. Richard Hutten, one of the most internationally successful Dutch designers. In your room there will be a ‘domoor’, Richard Hutten cup, which you can take home. Upon request a guided tour will be given through the hotel.
Platform21 and Restaurant As
Included in the package is a visit to Platform21, the Platform for Design, Fashion and Creation. Furthermore, you will receive a voucher for cake and coffee/tea at the newly opened restaurant As, which is renowned for its authentic flavourful ingredients and its organic suppliers. Platform21 and restaurant As are located in the Zuidas of Amsterdam; an international top destination in development. This urban district will develop into an important part of Amsterdam in the coming years. Here high-tech office buildings, comfortable housing, everyday, luxury and cultural facilities will arise next to each other.

Platform 21
Platform21 is a foundation set up to test and explore new ways of staging design within a cultural context and engaging a broad audience. To tehm, desing upens up possibilities for the future, which they are strangely optimistic about.
Platform21 generates projects that question contemporary society, connect amateur and professional creativity, reveal the process of making things and stimulate dialogue and the sharing of creative knowledge. Since 2006, they have been using a round former chapel in Amsterdam as our public laboratory. Here, they have initiated and organised schibtions, research projects, workshops, lectures, discussions and club nights.
Platform 21 = Repairing
Platform 21 = repairing, is a cultural project about mending things, initiated and organised by the Amsterdam creative centre Platform21. With its Repair Manifesto, Platform21 celebrates repairing as the new recycling and offers an alternative to our outmoded ways of designing and consuming.
In a five-month programme consisting of an exhibition, lectures, workshops, Repair Clinics, a contest and a forum held in Milan during the Salone del Mobile, Platform21 will investigate ways of revaluing repairing as a contemporary activity. Emphasis will be placed on creative solutions and the sharing of knowledge among designers, artists, repairpersons and the public.
