At the end of September the Cultural Embassy's contribution to the Rembrandt celebrations opens: Rembrandt: Death, Dissection & Doctors.
Guest-curator Kees Maas, who does anatomical research during his training as gynaecologist, composed an exhibition around Rembrandt's 'Anatomical Lesson of Dr. Tulp'. Exhibited will be the print 'Omelette' by Damien 'Hirst, the object 'Penis Extra Large' by Joep van Lieshout, several photos by Erwin Olaf, 'Morgue Chocolates' by Stephen Shanabrook, a text installation by Karin Arink, the drawing 'Reduction in Red' by Ivan Grubanov, the etch 'The Crucifixion' by Paul van Dongen and two historical anatomical models . The exhibition will be accompanied by a programme of lectures and screenings, to be announced.
