Lebanese singer Rima Khcheich counts as the star of the new generation, who after many years of war and conflict, are looking for a new Lebanese identity. She and double-bass player Tony Overwater met a decade ago in Yuri Honing's Orient Express. An intense cooperation and friendship ensued, in which both their musical and cultural backgrounds were a source of inspiration for a new and personal type of music. The recently launched cd Falak of the Rima Khcheich group is the fresh highlight of this cooperation; a seamless unity of Western and Arabic influences.
In October Rima Khcheich and her band will give three concerts in the Netherlands. At 10 October they play at Bimhuis. Prior to that, the Cultural Embassy invites you to an evening of talks and a taste of their music.
