An exhibition telling the story of migrants departing from Amsterdam nearly 100 years ago.

Lloyd Hotel, the adjacent buildings including Brazilië the nearby shopping centre, were purpose-built for the shipping company Royal Dutch Lloyd. They facilitated emigrants from Eastern Europe who departed from Amsterdam to make the long and arduous journey across the Atlantic to South America.
From 1921 to 1935 thousands of emigrants left Amsterdam on the KHL steamships to an uncertain future working on coffee plantations in Brazil.
The exhibition shows what it was like to leave one's home to start a new life thousands of miles away.
