Installation by Danaë Moons
wall over black bar in restaurant
Archeology is a huge source of inspiration for the sculptural work of Danaë Moons. Archeological digs to her are like secretive, underground cities full of skulls and bones, a frozen transcience. From this point of view, she is interested in the cruel, threatening side of of nature. In people, this dark side of nature leads to destructiveness. People scar each other as they are under the influence of forces that care nothing for our wellbeing.
ROUGH YET VULNERABLE
Her body of work consists of sculpture and drawings. Her manner of sculpting is drawinglike. The material is used in a rough, unrefined way in order to create an image of a hidden, uncontrolled nature which is still vulnerable.
Danaë Moons graduated from the Visual Arts Department at the Gerrit Rietveld Academie in 2010. She was introduced to us by visual artist Christiaan Bastiaans, who created the ´Curtains of Desire´ for our 1-star rooms.
