From 28/01/2012 until 24/03/2012
11 and 25 February, 10 and 24 March from 2 to 6 pm
in the temporary Slow Loket
Oostelijke Handelskade 34, Amsterdam (NL)
Located directly across from the historic Ontsmettingsgebouw
(‘disinfection building’) where almost a century ago guests of the
Lloyd Hotel were scrubbed down before boarding the boat to
South America, the Slow Loket offers a more loving, Slow
approach to cleaning with work by designer Marijke Annema.
Designer Marijke Annema created
a collection of tools that extend the curve of the arm, give
sensual expression to the fingertips, and help one explore
hard-to-reach places. Presented here as part of slowLab’s
ongoing SLOW LLOYD program, these strange and
beautiful objects are a metaphor for taking time and care to
get to know the Lloyd, the neighborhood around it and the
people who live here. Come get dirty with Marijke and try
out her tools on friends and strangers!

In the house: mime artist Eva Kijlstra

Room 608
Presentations to be announced
Mime artist Eva Kijlstra has settled into 5-star room 608 to research how her sources of inspiration - painter Hieronymus Bosch and playwright Sarah Kane - work when she uses them for speech and movement.
