From the first time that as a child she went into a room in a house in Andalusia and saw it was full of keys, Anama Ponce-Vázquez has been intrigued by them. In her work as visual artist keys are a recurring theme. 'For me, keys don't have to do with locking up, but with opening doors'.
The colour scheme of the keys she made for Lloyd Hotel, are based on her diving experiences in deep sea. In order to reach the depth of colour she wanted, some of the keys have had to be baked three times over.

Thom Puckey says of Anama's work: 'Anama seems to draw her inspiration from wide-ranging cultural sources, all of which however have to do with the object as an enchanted thing.
The element of decoration in her work, furthers the enchantment or honours the already enchanted object. In this her Andalusian Catholic origins must of course play a role, and the Moorish, North African influences are obvious.'
