On a warm Sunday in Freetown, palm wine musician Seydu tells his story. As a boy of 12, he managed to stow away on a ship to the Mediterranean coast. He talks about the decades he spent in Spain, and his eventual return to Sierra Leone. Tutored by his grandfather, who was also a great performing artist, Seydu is firmly embedded in the Fulah culture.
His story is recorded by journalist Liesbeth Tjon A Meeuw and put together in a musical audio-footage.
Come and listen to Seydu. Enjoy his music in a lifelike Listening Box, created especially for this occasion in Lloyd Hotel in Amsterdam. Presented by Liesbeth Tjon A Meeuw, Christina Carvalho in co-operation with Concerto and Lloyd Hotel & Cultural Embassy.
