Country estate Beeckestijn is run by Natalie Faber, who also co-hosts De Bonte Avond at Lloyd Hotel & Cultural Embassy twice a year.
For the current exhibition 'Summer at the country estate', Faber approached ten artists, who created new work: a folly, for the splendous gardens of Beeckestijn.
Among them is Chikako Watanabe, whose 'Lloyd Life' installation is at the entrance of the Lloyd restaurant. In 2009, she made the installation 'Lloyd Life', based on the history of Lloyd Hotel, for the celebratory manifestation '400 years Japan - the Netherlands', at The Lakenhal. A regular theme of her work is the creation of social interaction and new ways of communication.
Her folly at Beeckestijn is a mixed media Dog Folly, designed as a Japanese tea house. Watanbe's folly incorporates a large beech.
