Opening wallhangings ‘Kalamkari Tales’ by artist Ruud Lanfermeijer.
Exhibition on the age-old craft of hand blocked cotton printing, Kalamkari, which is now alive only at some places in India. The Dutch East India Company imported chintz to the Netherlands in the 17th century, where it was used for regional dress, bedlinen and wallhangings. In 2016 a group of Dutch artists worked together with Indian craftsmen to produce new work commissioned by the Textielfactorij.
